Fleeing pilot can’t escape reality

bad does it have to get for you to parachute out of an airplane thinking you are somehow going to pull off a fake death?
Marc Schrenker, an Indiana businessman, must have thought it was pretty bad. The picture of Schrenker and his wife posing in front of hundreds of thousands of dollars of toys, belies the inner turmoil.
Like most material things we can gain through chicanery, bravado and outright theft, the outside appearance we see rarely correlates to the inner self.
Schrenker, most would think, had it all. He had mansions, planes and a beautiful wife. He also was under investigation for defrauding people out of money entrusted to him for investments.
The wife said she wanted a divorce and the government was investigating, so an ill-formed plan apparently developed.
Schrenker rented a storage shed in a fake name and paid cash, police said, stashing a get-away motorcycle there. He flew his plane to oblivion Sunday night after reporting he was in trouble.
The plane, minus the pilot, was found airborne by military jets scrambled to assist. It crashed some 200 miles away from the initial distress call, within a mile of a home.
Schrenker was found wandering a road, wet and ruffled, but he disappeared before police put two and two together.
The man with the jets and wife and money and stuff was found in a campground Tuesday with just about nothing.
His life was a facade, but how many people envied him for it prior to last week?
Remember this: What people show you on the outside is the result of a lifetime spent building defenses so you only see what they want you to see.
If you fall into the trap of comparing how you feel on the inside to what people show you on their outsides, you will lose every time.
For me, I’m happy to be employed today, with health insurance, a car on which I owe no money, a place to hunt, my son and a roof over my head.

I really don’t care that this clown faked his own death. What bothers me is his disregard for other lives. He bailed out of an perfectly good airplane with no regard as to what damage to live and our enviornment he would cause.
What a clown.

minus the place to hunt and add a daughter (car payment still) and we are two peas in a pod. I am happy with my simpler way of life. It seems the more toys and such you have the more you have to lose. I see a lot that are much better off than me but there are also a lot worse off than me. I am very happy to just be where I am.
Proves that there’s a disconnect between the face we present to the world and the ‘real’ us for lots of people. He was young, handsome, and, by current standards, had ‘everything’. Sad, sad.
He should have bailed out over the Gulf of Mexico. He could have had a small boat waiting at the parachute point. That would have given him plenty of time to get away. His obviously impulsive lifestyle precluded sufficient thought to pull off a successful ruse. Great blog, BTW.
I hope the jury understands the fine line between insanity and stupidity. The office is split 50/50 with he’s nuts or just an idiot.

There appears to be NO HEAT IN THE NEW BAY COUNTY JAIL.
The prisoners are freezing in this freezing temperature we are experiencing now.
The prisoners do not have enough clothing to keep them warm.
They do have a blanket but are not allowed to use it from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
THEY DO NOT EVEN HAVE A HOT MEAL DURING THE FREEZING DAY.
THEY ARE GIVEN A BALONEY OR PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICH.
There are not enough pillows to give one to all of the prisoners but they are issued a pillowcase!
They are not allowed to wrap a towel around a book and put it into the pillowcase to rest their heads.
It is considered contraband when they do that.
They are not informed of that when they are given the pillowcase however.
Apparently, the pillowcase is only for use as a commissary bag.
If they have money to buy food, they can carry it in their pillowcase.
MANY OF THESE PRISONERS HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN CONVICTED OF ANYTHING YET!
SOME OF THE CONVICTED ARE ONLY THERE ON SPEEDING OR TRAFFIC OFFENSES.
HUMAN RIGHTS SHOULD EXTEND TO BAY COUNTY.
WE ARE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
